Virginia Beach, Virginia-The first day of school means knowing some rules. The first rule of the class belonging to Kelsey Pugh (better known as Ms. Pugh) is kindness.
“I said to my employees,’Linear function is important, but not as important as happiness and health,’” said Wendy Scott, Dean of Tidewater College.
“If you are talking to people, interacting with them will be more difficult because you have to talk to them through chat. Instead, you can actually talk to them face to face.” Reagan Napierski said.
“Parents have brought Clorox wipes; they are helping to clean; they are buying additional masks, and others are saying,’What do you need?’” Scott said.
Chaoshui College also encountered some obstacles. They had COVID-19 cases last year, but with a strong plan, everyone is healthy and moving forward.
“We use the outdoors as much as possible, so we have extra picnic tables, lap tables and picnic blankets,” Scott said.
“The agreement we made is purposeful. It’s not something we just read in the article. We’re just watching news clips-it’s true. It’s hitting families that are very close to us,” Ms. Pugh said.
“I do feel safe because the adults around me are taking all precautions to keep him safe,” she explained.
The students know that the pandemic has brought their own set of challenges, but if they are like Reagan, they are confident that they can deal with it.
Reagan said: “I think you just need to know a little bit more about what is happening, but if you just follow the guidelines, it will be very easy to interact with people.”
