Motlow State Community College now requires all students, faculty, staff, and visitors to wear masks in any Motlow facility. This decision supports the shared recommendations of the entire university community.
According to Terri Bryson, vice president of marketing and promotion, this decision was based on a recommendation from the Centers for Disease Control.
“All of Motlow’s health and safety decisions are based on data. As it applies to COVID, we considered a large number of data sources starting with the national CDC recommendation, including insights obtained from the state, and evaluating college-level data,” Bryson said.
Encourage social distancing as much as possible. Dr. Michael Torrence, President of Motlow, said: “In a proactive effort, university representatives unanimously support the wearing of masks to ensure that students, faculty, staff, and staff continue to stay on site in the safest possible environment.”
An agreement was developed to support mask requirements, including the provision of masks, hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Bryson added: “Overall, the response was very positive. In fact, we did not have a requirement to wear masks at the beginning of school. Many students wear masks collectively. This has been strongly supported by our faculty and staff.
The policy of Middle Tennessee State University is similar. As stated on its website, their policy stipulates that “masks or face masks are required in all campus buildings…”.
